Did you know...

.....that RSU has a GREEK LIFE?!
That's right, RSU has SORORITIES and FRATERNITIES!!

Ha, well--before I get to all of that I would love to introduce
myself--- My name is Paula Blalock, and I'm a senior student here at RSU! =) I graduated in 2006 from Pryor High School in little Pryor Creek Oklahoma, and came here to get my degree in Business Marketing.
If you haven't guessed by now, I'm the lucky student that gets to BLOG about RSU GREEK LIFE! =)

Let me start off by saying that I'm sooooo pumped about being RSU's next blogger, and I cant wait to tell you EVERYTHING about what GREEK life at RSU has to offer you! =)

Alright... so what do you think of when you hear the words "sorority" and "fraternity?" Most people would agree that they are just a bunch of crazy college kids that get together, party, skip class, and do insane stuff like eating toothpaste or having to run across campus naked (just a few of the things people say when I ask them that, haha)
However, GREEK life at RSU is none of the above!
Sure, we like to have a good time, but no way----we definitely don't make you eat anything gross!

RSU has 2 sororities Alpha Sigma Tau (A∑T) and Alpha Sigma Alpha (A∑A). Both sororities are made up of wonderful women, and Ill talk a lot more about them in future blogs! =)

RSU also has 1 fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha (PKA). There's lots of really cool guys in PIKE, and they're always hosting lots of cool events and banquets!
--a girls gotta love a college banquet.... you get to get all dressed up and go to a fancy dinner... its like an adult prom, without all the drama!--

Well, now that you know that RSU even has a GREEK life system, lets hear some feedback! What do you want to know? Do you have any questions or comments? Things you would like to see on the GREEK life blog?

......or better yet, would you like to join GREEK life?!?
Well, if you do, send me a comment, or call or shoot an email to BJ Armstrong over in the Student Affairs office in the Union.... he'll put you on the right track to GOING GREEK! =)
barmstrong@rsu.edu or 918.343.7579

Soooo... it looks like you might just have the basics down! Ill continue writing about RSU's GREEK LIFE here on the blog, and Ill always try to give you a heads up on information about upcoming events!

Hope to hear back from you!

Paula

  2. Who can join a sorority? Do you have to be a single college student or can you have a family?

  4. Anyone can join a sorority! Of course, there are certain GPA and other requirements (nothing too insane..) but sure... women with families can join too! We have a woman in right now that has a husband and 6 kids! =)

  6. I thought that there was another fraternity on campus now?

  7. There are 2 Fraternities though. You've excluded the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, what's up?

  8. As outlined by the Student Government Council, the Sigma Tau Fraternity is not a recognized student organization on campus. =S

If they regain their status as a student organization I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to talk about them! =)

  9. well Paula I guess you have been either miss informed or could careless about Sigma Tau Gamma. STG is an organization on RSU campus and have already help with a few events this semester, one mainly being the food drive and Holloween dance with the student art assosiation, Rogers State Gamming assosiation, and Sigma Tau Gamma. Did you also know, that Sigma Tau Gamma has community service projects. Working with the SAA to paint the rooms of a childrens home. They also currently are looking for more founding fathers and have a strong alumni chapter. And if you see anyone selling candy bars on campus it's a Sig Tau doing fundraising. The blue and silver are on campus all you have to do is look.

  10. Indeed look on as Sigma Tau Gamma continues to persevere on campus as well as off. I understand that the provisional Sig Tau chapter will be included in the annual homecoming shopping cart parade, ( remember they won the honor of being recognized as the most inventive design last year). Also, it has come to my attention that the Sig Tau chapter will be hosting an event that will be open to the entire local community, with all proceeds benefiting toys for tots and local food banks. Your oversight is understandable for I know these gentlemens numbers may be small, but they are dedicated to their cause.

  11. I am going to suggest that before you start blogging about something going on in GREEK life at RSU you should fully understand the rules of RSU and research what you are talking about before you make statments that are false and could hurt other GREEK organizations or RSU. Just a word of advice it's better to think before you speak, or your in case blog. I would also like to thank Sigma Tau Gamma and Pi Kappa Alpha for all the help that they gave me on the Student Art Nightmare Smash 3 Halloween Dance.
